Job Description

Steelwind is a fabrication jobshop specializing in heavy fabrication and machining, serving industries such as construction, aerospace, rail, minining, etc.
| PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Working with a core base of customers to develop price estimates and quotations of heavy steel plate fabrications & weldmenets.
- Contacting and working along side approved vendors for outsourcing of operations as well as sourcing material when required.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, oxy cutting, forming, welding, machining, stress relieving, blast & paint.
- Completing fabrication mechanical drawings based on the internal and external layout, standard practices, and/or from technical advisories.
- Calculating dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard procedures do not exist. Verifying and updating drawings as required.
- Assisting the supervisor in the planning and scheduling of the design, estimates and detailing processes.
- Assisting on development projects as requested by supervisor. This may also include completion of standard processes or practices and fabrication estimates.
- Recommending and developing new procedures to improve the efficiency of manufacturing processes.
| KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
- Knowledge of 3D software, 2D is a requirement.
- Excellent process and problem solving skills
- An understanding of drafting procedures
- An excellent team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
- Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
- Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Solidworks

| EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
- Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or Design, Work and Practical experience will be looked on favorably .
- Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, or with assistance.
