Job Description

Steelwind is a fabrication jobshop specializing in heavy fabrication and machining, serving industries such as construction, aerospace, rail, minining, etc.
 
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for:
  • Working with a core base of customers to develop price estimates and quotations of heavy steel plate fabrications & weldmenets.
  • Contacting and working along side approved vendors for outsourcing of operations as well as sourcing material when required.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, oxy cutting, forming, welding, machining, stress relieving, blast & paint.
  • Completing fabrication mechanical drawings based on the internal and external layout, standard practices, and/or from technical advisories.
  • Calculating dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard procedures do not exist. Verifying and updating drawings as required.
  • Assisting the supervisor in the planning and scheduling of the design, estimates and detailing processes.
  • Assisting on development projects as requested by supervisor. This may also include completion of standard processes or practices and fabrication estimates.
  • Recommending and developing new procedures to improve the efficiency of manufacturing processes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of 3D software, 2D is a requirement.
  • Excellent process and problem solving skills
  • An understanding of drafting procedures
  • An excellent team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
  • Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Solidworks

Some occasional travel may be required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or Design, Work and Practical experience will be looked on favorably .
  • Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, or with assistance.
