DESIGNER
Work with the leader in the power industry! Generac is a Wisconsin based $1.0 billion market-leading manufacturing company that builds quality power products that positively impacts the lives of our customers. We have a new opportunity in our Waukesha facility for a self-starting, detail orientated Designer that would like to be a part of a solid local company that offers career growth and development. Our Designers support and bring new products and cutting edge technology to the market.
Primary Responsibilities follow:
- Designs components and subsystems for commercial and industrial products through collaboration with engineering to create models, drawings, sub-assemblies and specifications in support of programs.
- Prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics, specifications, kits, BOMs and/or instructions for field kits using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Works closely with design originators (e.g., engineers, designers) to resolve design details or discrepancies, or to prepare drawings of unusual and more advanced designs and sub-assemblies, which require a higher degree of precision using CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) equipment. Identifies solutions and opportunities.
- Creates, modifies and controls a variety of documentation (models and drawings) from engineers' and senior staff's sketches, plans, written and verbal instructions.
- Develops and maintains drafting standards and procedures.
- Associate's Degree in Drafting/Design or Equivalent
- 3 – 5 years of design work with engines or generators preferred but not required
- CAD Technical skills (PRO/E preferred)
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Project, Excel)
- Ability to work on and complete multiple projects simultaneously
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, take an ownership approach for assigned area of responsibility
- Ability to prioritize and stay organized in a changing environment
