Job Description

We are seeking a creative and strategic HR professional to support building the strongest team possible of planning, architecture, graphics and interior design professionals!

This individual will bring her/his eight (or more) years of total HR experience, including three or more years of current leadership experience, to work closely with our “HR Guy” and our executive team to direct and manage significant Employee Services Team (HR) responsibilities, with a special focus on developing and nurturing our talented team of professionals.

Responsibilities

Employee Training & Development Coordination

  • Develop and implement a system to help Team Leaders to more effectively coach and mentor staff to grow their professional roles
  • Lead and evolve the annual Employee Goal Setting & Review process
  • Coordinate and organize large group trainings in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, as often as monthly
  • Support the annual Leadership promotion process
  • Support the Architectural Experience Program (formerly, the “Intern Development Program”)
  • Lead the efforts to enhance and institutionalize our new employee orientation practices and coordinate onboarding activities in collaboration with our teams
  • Provide the Kahler Slater orientation on our culture, policies and procedures to new staff

Policies and Programs

  • Lead the evolution of our human resources policies, procedures and programs
  • Lead key functional areas, including: HR information systems, employee relations, organizational development, employment practices and our employee engagement process
  • Along with our Benefits Administrator, assist staff with basic benefit questions and direction

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the HR Guy as required to support recruiting-related activities
  • In coordination with the executive team, track and recognize milestone anniversaries and support other firm-wide celebrations and cultural events
  • Coordinate the completion of the annual Employee Services operational plan and track the required quarterly updates
  • Special projects as they arise

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A bachelor's degree in human resource management plus eight or more years of current experience as an HR professional, or any similar combination of education and experience, including four or more years of leadership responsibilities
  • HR experience in the service industry is preferred; in a design services firm is ideal
  • A SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential is preferred
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Attention to detail in the intent and composition of written documentation and verbal communication
  • Evidence of successful leadership, team-orientation and collaboration behaviors
  • Diligence in seeking solutions to complex problems, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • A professional manner, coupled with common sense
  • A creative problem solver!
  • Respects and efficiently responds to staff needs

Working Relationships and Scope

  • Supports every person in the firm
  • Directly works with, and reports to, the HR Guy
  • Works closely with the Financial Services Team, the Executive Team and the Administrative Team

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a professional, creative, open office environment with business casual attire.  Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours and will average 2,300 hours per year.  Great flexibility in your schedule is both required of you and returned to you due to many project deadlines.  Occasional travel to our other US offices may be required.
