Job Description
The Department of Environmental Health’s innovative programs and strategic partnerships are transforming the environment in which Milwaukee’s south side residents live, work, and play.  The Department focuses on initiatives designed to improve the community’s environmental, physical, social and economic well-being. We are seeking a full-time Environmental Projects Coordinator that is self-motivated, energetic, and a take charge individual.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide leadership in identifying and implementing restoration and revitalization projects in support of the Department of Environmental Health’s Sustainable Developmental Program
  • Special focus will be placed on activities that improve the urban environmental conditions of the Kinnickinnic River Corridor and watershed, with potential to engage in other areas of Milwaukee’s south side
  • Assist in identifying and developing grant proposals for new project opportunities and report out on project successes
  • Provide input to the departments education and outreach activities
  • Participate in the departments public relations through media events, written publications and oral presentation, make presentations to agency staff and community groups

Qualifications:
  1. Excellent oral and written communications skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) communications strongly preferred
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in health, education, environmental science or related field
  3. Demonstrated experience with urban environmental project management, preferred experience with water resource management projects
  4. Strong understanding of urban environmental health issues
  5. Ability to relate well to people of various ages and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  6. Available to facilitate some evenings and weekend activities and events
  7. Proficient with Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, Power Point) required
  8. Ability to maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, regular use of a car, current auto insurance and ability to travel throughout the Milwaukee area
