Job DescriptionAt Aurora, we are finding better ways to meet our customers' needs in over 100 clinics and 120 community pharmacies throughout Wisconsin. Aurora Health Care offers students a variety of internship opportunities. Our internship programs are designed to provide students the opportunity to gain more knowledge and hands on experience. To qualify for this internship position, students must have completed their second professional year of pharmacy school.

The time spent as an intern with Aurora Health Care qualifies an individual to take the state of Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board exam for licensure as a registered pharmacist. The state of Wisconsin does not require that pharmacy interns obtain a pharmacy intern license.

Our internship opportunities will be working with our pharmacy teams at our Aurora West Allis Memorial Hospital, Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center and our Aurora Sinai Medical Center. You must have available housing to qualify for this position.

As an Aurora Pharmacy Intern you will -

*Learn to receive and interpret prescription orders and enter them in the pharmacy computer.

*Learn to counsel patients on medication, handle telephone prescription orders, drug utilization review, enter new prescriptions and prepare prescriptions for dispensing.

*Learn to identify medications received from manufacturers for patient use and all elements of proper handling. This includes an understanding of the ordering, storing and dispensing of medications, and an appreciation of record keeping requirements.

*Ascertain and maintain accurate patient status information.

*Participate in the requisitioning and dispensing of all medications, including patient convenience items.

*Develop skills to appropriately respond to requests concerning medication effects on patients, provide accurate reference information to other health professionals, and effect the provision of correct medications to patients at all times.

*Under the direction of a Wisconsin licensed pharmacist, the student is exposed to the following functions: inventory, determining staffing requirements and understanding staffing assignments, and the accounting process used in processing time recording records.

*Performs special projects and other duties assigned or as necessity dictates.
General Qualifications*This position requires an education as received at a National Association of Pharmacy Board approved College of Pharmacy.

*Students must have completed their second professional year of pharmacy school.

*Must be available to work 40 hours per week.

*Reliable transportation required.

*Position starts mid-May and will be completed in mid to the end of August.
