| Position Summary: The Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing engineering projects for the Pressure Washer business category. Projects will include new product development, technology development, cost reductions and process improvements. The Lead Engineer will be a technical expert and leader in the business. Under general supervision, perform tasks that are moderately complex and broad that require troubleshooting and interpretation of data, development of new test methods or procedures and used for a variety of situations. Involved in planning, execution, coordination, and organization of detailed development as part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Job Responsibilities: 1. Conduct and/or specify a variety of tests, using advanced techniques (FEA) to resolve customer concerns/problems and prepare technical reports on results 2. Sketch/draw moderately complex designs 3. May oversee the work of lower level technical support personnel 4. Modify analysis techniques when necessary to solve moderately complex problems 5. Evaluate engine, product or component failure using advanced engineering techniques 6. Compile and analyze test results, formulate conclusions and make appropriate recommendations 7. Job may require travel of a scheduled or urgent nature to review applications, discuss problems, etc. 8. Design and Develop Pressure Washer products. 9. Lead engineering personnel. May include managerial duties. 10. Lead engineering group on new product development projects. 11. Support manufacturing through DFM and process improvements. 12. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required COMPETENCIES Job Skills Requirements: * Broad knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures (sketching, drawing designs, test methods, measurement and test equipment, writing test procedures, using standard engineering analysis techniques, etc.) and other internal engineering standards and systems * Knowledge of engineering software systems (e.g. CAD/CAE, Pro-E and other related systems) * Knowledge of company and competitors products and technical abilities of suppliers * Working knowledge of various Briggs & Stratton products and manufacturing processes * Knowledgeable in mechanical and/or electrical requirements related to area of responsibility * Good interpersonal skills necessary to the nature of the job * Strong written communication skills necessary for technical report writing * New product development experience that includes developing and launching products to market preferred * Project management skills including: planning, task management and team building preferred. * Proven leadership experience preferred. * FMEA, DVPR, DFSS, Lean Product Development experience preferred. * Wide range of manufacturing processes & Manufacturing process control experience preferred. * Cross-functional Teamwork experience preferred. * Working knowledge of water pumps, flow and nozzles preferred. * At least 3 years of direct management experience preferred. * Experience dealing directly with UL, ETL, CSA, EPA preferred. Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. MS Degree in Engineering or MBA Degree preferred. Experience Requirements: * Minimum of three years of professional engineering experience preferred. At least 10 years experience preferred. | |
