Position Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Specialty – Boilers/Burners:
-- Install and maintain industrial and commercial gas, oil, and boiler/burner equipment.
-- Install and maintain all components of heating systems at existing and new installations.
-- Design and draw schematics for steam and hot water heating systems.
-- Calculate radiation requirements, heating loads, and sizes of piping, gas mains, and equipment.

Specialty – Controls:
-- Install and maintain various types of control systems, such as Siemens, Johnson, and Andover energy management systems.
-- Install and maintain all components of heating systems at existing and new installations.
-- Design and draw schematics for steam and hot water heating systems.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The person in this position must be willing and able to do the following: 1) work under conditions of high temperature, dust, cramped spaces, and high noise levels, and 2) furnish basic steamfitter hand tools of the trade.

NOTE: Persons hired as Steamfitters are expected to be able to perform the functions typically associated with this trade at the journey level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Valid driver's license and availability of a properly insured personal automobile for use on the job at time of appointment and throughout employment (car allowance provided).
2. Residency in the City of Milwaukee within six months of appointment and throughout employment.
3. Certification in the EPA Asbestos Abatement Training Program within six months of appointment.
4. Confined space training within six months of appointment.
