Position Description

The Marketing Director is responsible for developing and directing the Bank’s strategic marketing plan and overseeing the execution to deliver the expected results.

Position Expectations:
Corporate Strategy
  • Develops and executes the Bank’s marketing strategic goals to achieve stated objectives regarding revenue, profitability, and market share.
  • Fosters collaborative working relationships with Executive Management and branch managers.
  • In coordination with the President, prepares press releases, talking points, presentations and other communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Creates strategic marketing plans and develops and implements marketing programs for new and existing products and services that capitalize on business opportunities to target new and existing customer segments.
  • Creates sales opportunities for designated business sales departments.
  • Reviews products and services offered by the competition and ensures a positive competitive response.
  • In coordination with the President, produces the annual report.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with shareholders.

    Day-to-Day Accountabilities
  • Manages the development and introduction of new products and services to enhance the current and future product mix.
  • Directs and manages the organization’s advertising agencies and design firms to ensure the development, production and placement of creative and cost-effective advertising.
  • Reviews and oversees advertising copy, descriptive materials and training procedures for the staff actually engaged in selling the products to the customer.
  • Oversees the content of the website and coordinates changes with applicable departments.

    Managing and Developing Staff
  • Effectively trains and coaches staff for improved performance.
  • Leads by example and helps to create a positive environment.
  • Hold regular meetings to keep staff informed of expectations and changes in processes and/or procedures.
  • Regularly documents performance and prepares and administers performance evaluations within two weeks of an employee’s anniversary.

    Legal and Regulatory Knowledge
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and Bank policies and procedures.

    Miscellaneous
  • Maintains professional contacts and knowledge base of marketing skills within and outside of the financial institution; keeps up with issues, trends and developments of the financial industry.
  • Provides communication counsel to Executive Management.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate.

    Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least seven years of experience functioning in a marketing director or similar capacity for a financial institution or similar organization.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    Preferred Experience
  • HTML experience.
  • Familiarity with financial institution operations and procedures, market research and analysis.
