Position Description

Essential Functions:
• Responsible for retail customer service by waiting on customers, over-the-counter retail selling, customer invoicing, and customer carry-out. Suggest and detail the features and benefits of related products. Handle complaints and inform the CS Manager of problems with product. Introduce new products and programs.
• Make credit terms known to employees and customers, and enforce CPI’s credit policy. Direct customers to the VP Credit and Safety when warranted.
• Responsible for daily bookkeeping such as opening and/or closing the register, invoicing, sales reporting, cash management and bank deposits, and taking the periodic and the year-end inventories.
• Responsible for product management through purchasing and inventory management, stocking, store maintenance, and loading/receiving shipments. Maintain high standard for merchandising and housekeeping practices in both the store and warehouse. Monitor and control inventory levels to minimize shrink and insure product freshness. Ensure all items sold are properly displayed, priced and presented.
• This position is the resource for nutritional and production advice for the 4-H, Show Feeds and specialty feeds markets in the areas of swine, beef and the lifestyle markets. This person will provide training, advice and support to the local store staff and to other Feed Division employees on these product lines.
• Responsible for keeping resource manuals accessible and current.
• In coordination with other Feed Division and Marketing personnel, this person will help develop events, promotions and marketing materials to enhance CPI’s relationship with the agricultural markets and communities we serve. These will include clinics, seasonal promotions and teaching events for 4-H, FFA’s, and show clubs.
• Provide daily direction of warehouse staff. Determine staffing levels and work schedules for efficiency and good customer service. Approve time sheets for payroll processing. Train local staff in product knowledge, business operations and customer service. Assist the Country Store Manager with recruiting, performance reviews and discipline.
• Accomplish other duties as assigned by the CS Manager or VP Feed Division.
