Do you love "The Arts"???? Do you love Visual Arts????Would you like to share your knowledge to Milwaukee youth members as a TBEY Mentor?
Tessa's Black Entertainment & Youth Center. Inc. mentorship program pair Mentors (college/university students and alumni) and Mentees (Elementary, Middle & high school and college/university students) with similar backgrounds, skills, and interest such as the arts fields. Mentors will share their knowledge and experience about being a student or alumnus, and how they acquired resources and support, solved problems or overcame barriers, and achieved success in their studies and/or careers. The role of a Tessa's Black Entertainment & Youth Center. Inc. mentor is to guide, encourage, and help students remain focused on their long-term goal. The volunteer mentor is a resource for his/her student/mentee.
Mentor Eligibility Criteria
It is imperative that the mentors who participate in our program have a strong desire to commit to a mentoring relationship and are willing to take the risk of forming a new relationship. Other qualifications are as follows:
?_ 21 years of age or older.
?_ High School Graduate.
?_ Believe in the importance of education.
?_ Have an interest in helping young people.
?_ Be available to volunteer eight hours per month during the school year.
?_ U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
Responsibilities:
?_ Complete mentor application forms.
?_ Successfully pass a national background check.
?_ Make a minimum one-year commitment to TBEY, Inc. Mentorship Program.
?_ Communicate regularly with TBEY, Inc. office.
?_ Follow all TBEY, Inc. policies regarding travel with your mentee.
?_ Inform the TBEY, Inc. office of any needs the mentee may have regarding academic
preparation, such as school supplies.
?_ Follow TBEY, Inc. policy regarding confidentiality.
?_ Follow TBEY, Inc. Volunteer Policies.
Program Limitations:
?_ The mentor has no responsibility to provide the student/mentee with money, food, clothing, or school supplies.
?_ The mentor has no responsibility to and should not provide transportation for the student.
?_ The mentor is to visit with his/her mentee at TBEY, Inc for meetings and must have consent from mentee’s parent or guardians and TBEY, Inc. to take a mentee any place.
?_ The mentor and student/mentee agree to maintain confidentiality unless information received is a potential threat to the student and/or other individuals. Please immediately notify the TBEY, Inc. program director if a concern arises.
This is a internship for college students.
