We are seeking an uncommon professional to join our team as a State and Local Tax Manager

* The position has responsibility for tax administration and planning for all state and local taxes including income, franchise, premium, sales and use, and personal property by performing, organizing, supervising and controlling processes and work product. This includes creating and implementing necessary policies and procedures, as well as providing guidance to executive management with respect to state taxation planning opportunities and issues.

* The position requires demonstrated tax compliance and planning skills acquired over at least six years in a corporate tax department or major accounting firm, outstanding communication skills, a thorough understanding of state income and franchise tax laws, ability to recognize tax-related issues and opportunities, and the ability to manage and improve state tax compliance processes.

* The position requires demonstrated knowledge in the area of sales and use taxes including experience in addressing nexus issues, product and service taxability and assisting with sales and use tax examinations.

* This position provides direct supervision of state and local tax processes and is involved with the evaluation and development of tax department staff.

* This position will assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives within and outside of the Corporate Tax Department and will actively participate on committees, task forces, project teams and work groups as assigned by Management.

You must bring to the table

* Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (an advance degree preferred); At least six (6) years progressive experience in a corporate tax department supervising the state and local tax return process for a multi-company, multi-state group or state tax experience with a public accounting firm tax department with at least two to three years at the manager level or above; At least four (4) years managing individuals in some capacity;

* Demonstrated skills in the areas of sales/use tax including assessment of nexus, product taxability, management of use tax process and management of sales and use tax exams;

* CPA or CMG professional designation required (FSA and/or an advanced degree in a financial discipline preferred);

* Substantial experience with OneSource tax preparation software (or similar computer-based tax preparation software including Vertex, CorpTax, ProSystemFX or PremiumPro);

* Effective verbal and written communication skills; Effective time management, project management and organization skills.
