Position Description
A family business since 1986, Brew City Beer Gear, Inc. has produced innovative and award-winning products in-house due to an environment with a creative group of owners.
Some of our clients include Miller Brewing, Harley-Davidson, Urban Outfitters, Norstrom, and Macy's.
We are seeking a designer who has the skills to contribute to our team at a high level. This includes incredible non-graphic concepting skills, ability to write tag-lines, and to work with apparel and the most current trends (and still feel fulfilled at the end of the day)!
Design runs in our family: President Richard Keppler also owns a graphic design studio in Milwaukee called Spectrum Creative, Inc., which has been in operation since 1980. He graduated from the Layton School of Art.
Starting salary offer is based on your experience in the apparel marketplace.
Experience:
2-3 years of professional experience in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark Xpress is necessary, with some illustrative ability outside the computer. Web design skills are a plus.
Experience with designing for apparel (t-shirts, sweats, hoodies, etc) or a fierce desire to make t-shirt design a career.
Amazing concepting skills. If you overhear someone say the word, "cheese," and this intrigues you so much that you already have 25 ideas written down, that is a good sign! If you threw out all your notebooks once you got a G5, that's a bad sign!
Some duties include:
Notebook concepting
Creative layout, design, illustration
Technical proficiency in production art and film output
Creative concepting at a high level (as high as 100 designs per week)
Research for trends
Low-level marketing
Overall, we are extremely ambitious in our creative output. We expect the same from our designers. Work load can be heavy and demanding at times. Working directly with the owners can appear "empowering," but some find it more stressful, as our hopes for the company are so high, and our expectations can be aggressive.
