Job Description
Summary
As a member of the Maintenance Team, the Maintenance Mechanic will be expected to perform demand and preventive maintenance to structures, equipment, machines, HVAC, and plumbing. A good understanding of troubleshooting principles and mechanical aptitude are essential in this role. Repairs will be conducted both independently and with fellow maintenance team members under the guidance of the Facilities Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  1. Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.
  2. Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties.
  3. Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.
  4. Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement parts.
  5. Perform skilled operations such as filing and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts, adjust feed and limit mechanisms, gibs, and ways.
  6. Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting, and aligning operations.
  7. Perform maintenance on the building, facilities, and grounds.
  8. Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.
  9. Maintain required maintenance logs and files via an ERP based Maintenance Management System.
  10. Perform routine housekeeping in the department and ensure adherence to established safety procedures.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience    
  1. Minimum of high school education or equivalent.
  2. Requires a broad knowledge of mechanical repair as may be acquired in a three-year formalized program or five years’ experience in a related maintenance field.
  3. Require a knowledge of electrical repair as may be acquired in a one-year formalized program or 3 years’ experience in a related electrical field.
 Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals. 
  2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization.
  4. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical repairs.
  5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
  6. Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  7. Ability to operate a forklift, scissors lift, crane and a variety of hand and power tools.  
  8. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  9. General computer skills including email and data entry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.  The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach above shoulders; use foot/feet to operate equipment; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
