JOB TITLE: Human Resources Manager

PEOPLE MANAGER (YES/NO): YES

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

As a Human Resources Manager, you are responsible for overseeing all aspects related to the human resources function in an organization. This includes managing staff, overseeing departmental functions, and developing strategies and policies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  2. Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs, coordinate with safety to ensure all mandatory training is tracked and up to date.
  3. Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  4. Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  5. Provide orientation for new employees, to ensure a successful onboarding process.
  6. Responsible for compliance with procedure and policy in the processing of information.
    1. Supervisors/managers understand information needed and the critical nature of these requirements.
    2. Files comply with policy and procedure; a plan is in place to follow up on missing data.
  7. Dissemination and implementation HR Policy. Including Central Territory Handbook and Division/Site Addendums
  8. Ongoing coordination with DHQ for the timely and accurate processing of DFB information.
  9. Healthy Employee Relations are maintained through employee feedback, employee events and recognition.
  10. Assists with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  11. In contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.
  12. All other duties as assigned as related to this job.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Education:

  • A Bachelor's required, master's degree is preferred.
  • Human Resource Certification required. (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP)

Experience:

  • An HR professional with 5 to 10 years' experience. An exposure to social services or faith-based organizations is preferred.
  • A background providing direction in HR matters, HR Generalist duties and managing employee information.

Certifications/License:

  • Valid Driver's License and MVR clearance.

Continuing Education:

  • Safe from Harm Training within 30 of hiring

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven working experience as a Human Resource Manager or other HR Executive.
  • Problem-solving skills to address employee-related issues and create solutions that benefit both the employee and the organization.
  • Interpersonal and relationship-building skills to foster a positive work environment and mediate conflicts.
  • Demonstrable experience with key HR metrics and how to use these metrics to drive strategy and decision making.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems and databases.
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulation to ensure the organization is compliant.
  • Change management skills to help guide and implement organizational changes.
  • A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
