Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

The Loadout Selector identifies and selects finisher hogs for marketing/culling by assessing body composition according to company standard operating procedures and estimates market hog weight to meet marketing requirements while ensuring we follow schedules for the processing facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Assesses hog body composition in finishing sites to project weights and profiles to meet marketing requirements.
  • Identifies and marks hogs to be moved or culled to the appropriate destination.
  • Delivers profile paperwork to Loadout Supervisor daily
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor and production about group performance and provides data through written reports and profile assessments.
  • Counts inventory and number of pigs scheduled for marketing as needed.
  • Assists other team members to effectively meet department and company goals.

REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty/function satisfactorily.   • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; minimum 2+ years' swine production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A clear and valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record (MVR) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and sometimes push/and or move up to 300 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is commonly exposed to airborne particles and gases at low concentrations. The employee is frequently exposed to waste material, feed and hog dust.
