Job Purpose

Responsible for the simulation and development of HV/LV battery pack systems. Candidate will support the product development team from inception to production launch as it pertains to production intent components for manufacturing. Candidate will lead structural design, development, and testing of finite element models designed to meet customer requirements while maintaining compliance to industry regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct system level finite element analysis (FEA) simulations to determine structural integrity of battery module/pack.
  • Support the development of CFD as well as thermal analysis for battery systems with various cell form factors and chemistries.
  • Support battery validation activities, including test design, planning, execution, and analysis.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide technical proposals/solutions to resolve engineering issues based both on simulation and test results.
  • Provides technical support for design and manufacturing related matters with design team.
  • Review product validation and verification plans at all product levels while ensuring customer and internal requirements are met.
  • Support cost reduction roadmap by working with engineering teams in the development of low-cost design options and suplier pricing actions.
  • Support product builds for Design Validation and customer requirements including accelerometers as well as thermal couples required for tests calibration.
Qualifications

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Familiarity with the following modeling software preferred. MATLAB, Hypermesh, Abaqus and LS-Dyna3D, Ansys as we as general knowledge of Creo and or Solid Works Design Software. Strong skills set with Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel preferred.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and or equivalent.
  • 5 years' experience within Engineering market preferred.
  • Understanding manufacturing impact on selecting proper materials for the application.
  • Experience with high voltage EV/HEV battery systems a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and excel in a self-directed work environment.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written and oral format.

Training Required

  • Candidates will attend HV safety training offered by EnerSys as an on-the-job training function.
