Position Summary
Vice President for Mission Integration serves as the chief Mission Officer of the University responsible for promoting and safeguarding the integration of mission through its history, identity and purpose of the modern University of St. Francis. The Vice President for Mission Integration is responsible for communicating the heritage of the Founders, The CONGREGATION of the THIRD ORDER of ST. FRANCIS of MARY IMMACULATE, Joliet, IL. The Religious Institute has continuously sponsored the University of St. Francis since 1920 and has direct input on the role. Vice President for Mission Integration articulates and strengthens USF's Catholic Franciscan identity. Develops a consciousness of mission for the greater church and ensures its implementation in the university through policies and practices. The Division of Mission Integration leads from within and collaborates with all others areas of the university to create a culture where the Franciscan values of reverencing creation, compassion and peacemaking are brought to life and grounding in the Gospel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
COLLABORATIVE NATURE OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide vision, direction and leadership for the Division of Mission Integration.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with colleagues in every area to ensure the pervasive integration of Catholic Franciscan Mission and Values of University Life to facilitate a shared mission among all.
  • Establish and maintain relationships between the Roman Catholic dioceses of Joliet and Chicago and the University regarding matters of the University and Church issues.
  • Collaborate with other Catholic colleges/universities, outside groups and organizations (i.e. ACCU and AFCU) in programs and activities that promote the values and mission of Catholic Higher Education.
  • Participate in the Shared Governance of the university by serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, Budget and Planning (Chair Compensation and Benefits Committee), Executive and University Council, Crisis Management Team, Behavioral Intervention Team, ex officio member of Academic Assembly and other committees or task forces as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Uphold and assist to fulfill the mission, vision, values, and traditions including mission-related art and symbols of the University of St. Francis.
  • Work that the highest standard of conduct, attitude, appearance and confidentiality expected in all aspects of performance as a visible agent of the University represents as a model for all constituents of the university.
  • Serve as liaison and primary communicator to the Sponsoring congregation in their role of sponsorship.
  • Develop and monitor annual budget for the Division of Mission Integration.
  • Serve instructors (specifically General Education Program and Duns Scotus students) who desire to integrate the Catholic and Franciscan charism and values, as well as the Catholic and Franciscan Intellectual Traditions, into their curriculum and courses by providing consultation and resource materials.
  • Chair the Catholic Franciscan Charism Council.
  • Lead and facilitate mission and Franciscan values-focused programs, presentations, awards, etc., across campus.
  • Lead all planning and administration of the annual Franciscan Pilgrimage to Assisi, Italy.
  • Prepare and monitor compliance for Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the University's Franciscan values.
  • Actively participate in planning the annual all campus Development Days.
  • Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement.
  • Carry out additional assignments made by the President.
Minimum Requirements
  • M.A. related to administration with teaching experience or other equivalent degree/experience.
  • Knowledge of current trends in the Church and Franciscan scholarship, Theology, and Higher Education.
  • Willingness to support and cultivate the Catholic and Franciscan mission and values of the university.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
  • Practicing Catholic with demonstrable commitment to the Roman Catholic Tradition.
Preferred Requirements
  • Five years of leadership service in a religious congregation in the United States.
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
Full-time, daily from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM minimum 40 hours per week. Expected to extend when necessary. The Vice President of Mission Integration is on-call with direct access to the President of the Sister Sponsors and of the University for mission-related activities and all other executive decision-making.
Physical Requirements of Position
Work performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time spent working on a computer in addition to a physical presence on the campuses. This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
