Job Description

The Tool Maker is responsible for mold, tool, and fixture build using all tool room equipment and providing technical support. This will include, mold design input, scheduling, and troubleshooting.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The below list reflects the general details necessary to describe the principle and essential functions of the position and shall not be construed as the only duties that may be assigned for the position

  • Repair molds, tooling, and fixtures
  • Performs complex tool-making procedures requiring fitting and assembling parts, and adjusting meet requirements
  • Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose machines to fabricate tooling components, and fit and assemble these components into production tooling and fixtures
  • Set up and operate automatic and manual machining equipment for the manufacturing and repair of injection molds
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all molds/dies
  • Build jigs and fixtures as needed
  • Design and build gauges to check the accuracy of parts
  • Resolve mold / die performance issues
  • Manufacture new molds/dies to meet production demand for existing and new products,

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Electrical discharge machining
  • Knowledge of speeds and feeds for carbide cutters used in machining tool steels
  • The ability to program conversational and tool path programs in multiple formats
  • Experience with multi-axis, 5-axis simultaneous is a plus
  • Print and GD&T knowledge
  • Ability to hold close tolerance to + or - .0001
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a safe manner

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear
  • Use hands to work tools, controls, etc.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Education and Experience

  • 3 years experience as a Tool Maker preferably in a wax or plastics injection mold manufacturing environment
  • A two-year associate degree in machine tool technology is preferred but not required
