Overview

The Assistant Clinical Lab Supervisor under the guidance of the Supervisor works in a clinical laboratory environment and performs all clinical tests in the designated area(s) of responsibility including providing guidance to staff. The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for compliance with all regulatory requirements as they pertain to the laboratory.

The hours for the position are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday and it is full time and 100% on site.

Responsibilities

  • To maintain close communication with the supervisor on matters pertaining to the policies and procedures of the laboratory.
  • To assist the supervisor in scheduling, inventory, preparation of payroll information, development of new procedures, quality control, continuing education and quality improvement activities.
  • To assist the supervisor in conducting annual performance evaluations of the staff members, in order to assure that all requirements included in the various job descriptions are met.
  • To be a working assistant supervisor, capable of filling any staff position in the laboratory.
  • To represent the department in the absence of, or when requested by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all elements of the DFCI Code of Conduct and Ethical Behavior, in particular as it applies to the billing and/or crediting of laboratory tests.

  • BS, MT (ASCP) or recognized equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 5 yrs in Clinical Chemistry or related laboratory work.
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred.
