S&ME is looking for motivated and passionate Drillers and Driller Assistants to join our Field Exploration team in many locations across our footprint.


Driller and Driller Assistants must exhibit safety, quality workmanship, and integrity; be dependable; and be open to working outdoors year-round. The ability to travel with paid hotels and per diem is part of this position's requirements.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Assist/Conduct drilling operations for soil and rock samples using various drilling techniques and equipment.
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling rigs and associated machinery.
  • Perform geotechnical testing and data collection in the field.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve project goals and deadlines.

What You Bring:

  • A High School diploma/GED
  • 0-3 years of experience in Geotechnical Drilling, or a related field
  • HAZWOPER certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL), required for Drillers

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough and uneven terrain
  • Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
  • Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
