Company Overview:

STS Technical Services , a Top 100 Staffing Firm, is currently seeking a skilled Principal Structures Engineer for a position in Erlanger, Kentucky. This role is vital for ensuring the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of aircraft through expert management of engineering data and documents.

Position Summary:

The Principal Structures Engineer will report directly to the Director of Structures Engineering. This role is centered around overseeing and providing technical guidance on aircraft structural integrity across various ATA chapter subjects. The engineer will be pivotal in the management and development of engineering standards and practices for both existing and new fleet models, including 747/767 and 737/777.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and supervision to Structures Engineers working on fleet technical support.
  • Develop and manage engineering documentation to comply with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor and manage FAR/AD/NPRM compliance for multiple aircraft models.
  • Lead projects focused on aircraft structures modifications and repairs, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
  • Coordinate with industry groups and regulatory agencies to maintain up-to-date compliance and address emerging issues.
  • Develop corrective actions for structural discrepancies and manage mandatory reporting to regulatory bodies.
  • Support integration of new and previously operated aircraft into the fleet.
  • Provide comprehensive 24/7 technical support in collaboration with other engineering staff.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience considered.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in aircraft structural engineering.
  • Familiarity with large aircraft and engine structural components.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to effectively interact with manufacturers and regulatory agencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional and cross-departmental projects.
  • Financial analysis skills.
