Compensation: $42,600-$43,000
FLSA Status: Exempt
Terms of Employment: 12-month, annual, fixed-term renewable

Responsibilities

Manage the Intramural Sport Program:

  • Develop and coordinate seasonal sport leagues, tournaments, and events based on student interest

  • Keep abreast of new developments in Intramurals to provide new programs and activities to meet student needs.

  • Develop and update policy handbook and training manuals

  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student employees

  • Assist with the budget, annual report, and record keeping development, implementation, and oversight

  • Assist with HRS validation of student payroll

  • Develop and conduct officials' clinics

  • Maintain and order sports equipment (includes bid investigation, purchasing, as well as inspection, and repair/replacement of equipment)

  • Seek out opportunities for extramural participation within NIRSA, WIRSA, or other

  • Actively market Intramurals; attend fairs and interest meetings and other events to promote Intramurals; work closely with Res Hall and Greek Life staff to develop and market program

  • Develop and manage Sport Club program based on student interest

  • Keep abreast of new developments in Sport Clubs to provide new programs and activities to meet student needs.

  • Develop and update policy handbook and training manuals

  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student employees

  • Assist with the budget development, implementation, and oversight

  • Assist with the annual report and record keeping development

  • Assist with HRS validation of student payroll

  • Oversee management of all club operations including budget, travel, risk management, advisors, and coaches

  • Monitor and approve all activities including fundraising, volunteering, practices, and competitions

  • Develop and maintain a master inventory of club equipment including valuation

  • Seek out opportunities for extramural participation within NIRSA, WIRSA, or other

  • Seek out opportunities to host, and coordinate the operations of state, regional, and/or national competitions

  • Actively market Sport Clubs; attend fairs and interest meetings and other events to promote Sport Clubs

Departmental Support Additional Areas

  • Based on experience and interests, support departmental mission through one or more of the following areas: Social Media; Graphic Design; Risk Management; Student Leadership, Development and Recognition; Assessment

  • Other duties/tasks as assigned based on departmental need and professional development.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or related field (demonstrate transferrable skills)

  • Demonstrated experience leading sport programs

  • Prior experience in officiating, training officials, or coordinating officiating clinics

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and commitment to customer service

  • Ability to work within unit, campus, system, state, and federal policy

  • Demonstrated commitment to the ideals of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and those students who are traditionally underrepresented

Preferred:
  • A Master's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or related field

  • Demonstrated ability to work positively within a team environment, and to engage and inspire student leadership through effective mentoring and training

  • Experience with management, development and supervision of Competitive Sport programs in higher education recreation

  • Officiating/Refereeing Certification
