We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, National Fiduciary Officer to join our national Chief Fiduciary Officer team. This role is open to candidates located in Chicago, IL, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA and Wilmington, DE.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Advise Wealth Management team members on the interpretation of key document provisions and duties of BNY Mellon as trustee; work with internal partners and external advisors to find compliant and creative solutions that meet business needs and manage Fiduciary and operational risk.
  • Support Chief Fiduciary Officer in managing internal audits, regulatory exams, compliance testing, and control testing
  • Identify, assess, escalate and collaborate to resolve Fiduciary risk issues; vet and consider exceptions within BNYM's Fiduciary governance framework
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk and Compliance to ensure alignment of fiduciary administration policies with organizational risk appetite and formal risk framework
  • Assist Chief Fiduciary Officer and National Fiduciary Team Leader with national projects to meet risk and regulatory objectives
  • Support execution of the national Fiduciary strategic plan to manage and grow Fiduciary relationships, including support of national marketing strategy and creation of internal resources and external Fiduciary thought leadership.
  • Support National Fiduciary Team Leader and Regional Fiduciary Managers in developing and coaching Fiduciary team members across the country.
  • Develop relationships with centers of influence in the legal and trust/estate community to support business growth and strategic new business opportunities; collaborate with sales team and WM leadership to grow Fiduciary business
  • Support culture of proactive client service and Fiduciary risk management
  • Support Chief Fiduciary Officer team in enterprise and interdisciplinary Wealth Management projects/initiatives

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • 10+ years of experience in fiduciary administration, including understanding of fiduciary taxation, and experience managing large and complex client relationships.
  • Advanced degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. JD strongly preferred. Complementary professional designations are a plus.
  • The qualified candidate must be self-motivated and possess very strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills as this position deals directly with senior leaders and regulators.
  • Specific experience in the settlement of decedents' estates and probate will be helpful, as will experience in the administration of charitable trusts, ILITs, and special needs trusts.
  • Candidates with experience evaluating new Fiduciary business opportunities to align with organizational risk appetite are strongly preferred.
  • Ideal candidates will also have subject matter expertise on Fiduciary topics that impact UHNW clients and in-depth knowledge of Fiduciary practices, policies and procedures.
  • As a national leader, consistent adherence to all organizational policies, procedures and regulations is required, along with timely completion of assigned compliance tasks.
  • Pre-requisites include a demonstrated history of continuous learning and adherence to the highest standards of fiduciary conduct, as this team member will serve in a leadership capacity and mentor/train less-experienced team members.
  • No direct reports; provides guidance to less experienced Fiduciary managers, officers and associates as needed.
