Through leadership by example, provide instruction, administer authentic assessments, and foster an active learning environment that is focused on student foundational competence, success, retention, and completion.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

1. Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
2. Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
3. Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
4. Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
5. Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Participate as a productive member of a team.
8. Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
9. Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
10. Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of discipline, curriculum development, effective teaching/learning, and evaluation..
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening.
  • Strong customer service skills, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage time and organize work.
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (clients and vendors).
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work/improve processes and/or systems.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities.
Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Twenty-four months (6,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience as a fully qualified worker in the occupational area of transportation, or Truck Driving of which 2,000 hours shall be within the previous five years. One year (2,000 hours) of related occupation experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of postsecondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.
  2. Competent in safe and proper operation of a class A and class B motor vehicle and knowledgeable of truck components to provide proper inspection.
  3. Possession of a valid Class CDL-A-unrestricted is required.
  4. Possession of Hazardous Materials endorsement preferred.
Supplemental Information

The Instructor - Truck Driving position is part of the Graphics, Construction, & Transportation department in the School of Applied Technologies, and will report to the Associate Dean.

There is one vacancy available to start by July 1st, 2024. This full-time instructor position will teach on a flexible year-round calendar. Teaching assignments will typically occur on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Interviews:
Finalists will be invited to interview in person and do a teaching demonstration as part of the interview. Interviews are scheduled for Monday, May 20th, 2024.
