The Calibration and instrumentation Intern's primary duties are calibration and troubleshooting support for facility and manufacturing critical systems. This is done by testing and calibrating electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, analytical, and measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established calibration standards and principles. The Calibration Intern assists in the calibration of critical instrumentation and ensures that they are performed on-time and on schedule.

INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVE -

  • Develop a review process of all metrology equipment and standards, exploring cost reduction opportunities on vendor versus in-house calibrations

  • Execute the process review and prepare report with ROI analysis

INTERNSHIP SCOPE -

  • Procedural requirements as indicated in corporate and site-specific SOPs, work instructions, and policies

  • State and Federal expectation as applicable to the GMP standards

  • Assist in the execution in calibration events to further understand the metrology process and provide insight for final ROI report (see job duties)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform field Calibrations

  • Update calibration database (BMRAM, Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager)

  • Possesses an understanding of calibration procedures for process instruments, which measure temperature, pressure, flow, level, and composition, along with an understanding of process controls and troubleshooting.

  • Review calibration certificates for completeness and accuracy. Maintain calibration standards

  • Tag all new equipment/instrumentation and assign inventory numbers

  • Recommends improvements on procedures

  • Performs other tasks and special assignments as requested by management

  • Ability to meet gowning requirement for ISO areas

  • Interacts with all departmental staff.

  • Works closely with QC, Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, QA, QC, MTS, Development for scheduling work and equipment availability

  • This is an individual contributor role. No Managerial or supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the stated position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Enrolled in and in current good standing with a relevant technical degree program such as: facilities maintenance, mechanical or electrical engineering, etc.

  • 0-3 years' experience in metrology/calibration at pharmaceutical manufacturing company preferred but not required

  • Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager experience preferred

  • Previous experience at a pharmaceutical manufacturer preferred

  • Military calibration, maintenance and instrumentation training and experience preferred

  • Low voltage wiring technical/understanding

  • Instrumentation and controls

  • Well versed computer skills and Microsoft Office tools

  • Customer Service skills

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Team Player, highly collaborative

  • Possess a strong customer service orientation

  • Highly attentive to detail

  • Effective time management capabilities to meet job obligations and timelines

  • Eager and willing to learn
