Job Description
SUMMARY
The Safety and Compliance Specialist will lead efforts to protect Wagner’s shareholders, customers, and the environment from harm.  The Safety and Compliance Specialist will develop and implement programs and training related to industrial safety and environmental concerns.  Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Safety and Compliance Specialist will work closely with manufacturing employees, as well as management, to ensure compliance while guided by Wagner’s vision.  The qualified candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to their fellow shareholders’ safety and the environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Safety Efforts
  • Implement and lead safety teams to improve safety performance.
  • Coordinate and deliver classroom Safety training for employees with the support of immediate supervisor.
  • Participate in incident investigations identifying root cause and corrective actions.
  • Maintain LOTO program.
  • Maintain MSD and chemical inventory documentation.
  • Distribute and monitor Preventative Maintenance jobs regarding equipment inspections.
  • Recommend and facilitate Continuous Improvement projects related to safety, energy consumption, and waste reduction.
  • Actively participate in Wagner activities regarding safety.
Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Submit Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) permits, reports and other documentation.
  • Maintain contracts with appropriate vendors where outside monitoring is required or preferred.
  • Coordinate waste disposal, scrap, and recycling contracts and act as primary contact for related vendors.
Administrative Efforts
  • Maintain RoHS and related documentation and provide declarations for sales department when requested.
  • Assist Facilities Manager in coordinating and monitoring contractors.
  • Assist facility maintenance team as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  1. Associate degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science or related field required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Three to five years of related experience preferred.
  3. One to three years of ERP experience is preferred.
  4. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Desire to become a proven leader in Industrial Safety with an employee-owned company.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Extensive knowledge of Industrial Safety and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations along with the ability to write, create, and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to effectively present and train employees on related programs and procedures
  • Proficiency with technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers in a collaborative team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Access, and the Internet
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to be on site to manage projects. The employee will frequently be required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, balance and move about the facility.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
