Overview

Overview:

Applications are being accepted for a part-time Adjunct Faculty - Electricity Instructor at Moraine Park Technical College, Fond du Lac campus. The primary teaching responsibility will be in the Electricity program; however, class assignments and locations may vary from term to term. This instructor may be asked to teach on weekdays or evenings. This person reports to the Associate Dean of Trades and Apprenticeships.

Part-Time Adjunct Faculty Occupational Experience Standards:

Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one (1) year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five (5) years. In lieu of this one (1) year (2,000 hours) of recent experience, two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five (5) years may be considered. (Two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight (8) semesters of part-time teaching or four (4) semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.)

Qualified instructors have performed the following job duties:

    Experience in all of the following job duties:
    • Performed the installation of electrical wiring and associated equipment in either a residential, commercial, or industrial setting
    • Conduct safety briefs with work crews; ability to identify hazardous conditions on the jobsite.
    • Read and understand specifications and drawings
    • Implemented work practices according to most current National Electrical Code requirements
  • Working knowledge of all of the following:
    • AC/DC theory
    • Transformer theory and operation
    • Green Technologies in Power
    • Programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
    • Electrical fabrication (mounting systems, supports, etc.)
    • Wisconsin Electrical Code
    • Single and 3-phase Electrical Motors
    • Ohm's Law
    • Capacitors and Capacitor Reactance
    • Parallel Circuits and Series Circuits

Additional Information:

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship from the Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) or another federally registered program.
