Job Description
Overview

Produces appropriate dimension ultrasonic recordings and doppler flow images of heart and related structures for diagnostic use. Technicians are responsible for operating and caring for diagnostic equipment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and serving on committees and/or task forces and participating in projects as needed/requested. He/She may be required to alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, call schedules, flexible hours, and overtime as necessary to ensure the delivery of quality patient care at assigned site(s).

Responsibilities

All outcome based duties and standards within this department will be performed according to the established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and organization. Performs echocardiographic examinations, assuming responsibilities for the quality of the examination and using clinical judgment to determine the need for additional testing protocols. Assess, prepare and perform echocardiographic examinations (M-mode, 2-dimensional doppler, transesophageal and stress). Provide for emotional support, physical comfort and safety of patients and visitors. Maintains equipment and area in working condition. Assists with other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

Graduate of accredited school of ultrasound/echocardiography or equivalent

One year previous experience in echocardiography preferred


Certification/Licensure

CPR Certification
RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) by the ARDMS Board or RCS by the CCI Board registered or registry eligible.
Must obtain RCS registration in adult echo within six (6) months.
