Target hiring range for this position will be between $50,000-$52,000 per year or per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

Under the administrative direction of the Associate Director of Recreation Facilities & Operations, the Facility Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day facility supervision at Blomquist Recreation Center during the academic calendar and Northwestern University Sailing Center (NUSC) during the summer quarter. Ensures a safe, efficient, and effective customer friendly recreation experience. As directed, provides support to NUSC camps, clinics, rentals, and special events. Assists with the oversight of student and temporary staff.

*Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. *

*Note: Not all aspects of the job are covered by this job description.

*Note: Work schedule is primarily Tuesday-Thursday from 12pm-8pm and Friday-Saturday 10am-6pm. Depending on the needs of Northwestern University Recreation.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Facilitate building tours and positively market facilities to prospective students and members.

* Serve as Manager on Duty throughout the workday.

* Assist with the oversight of student and temporary staff. Ensures staff are consistently following procedures, guidelines, and meeting department expectations.

* Assist with the planning, coordinating, and training of temporary staff. Provides coaching and developmental training and leadership opportunities to student and temporary staff, as needed.

* Develop relationships with members and staff; manages their requests and issues timely and professionally. Responds to patrons' needs/complaints concerning policies, procedures, and programs, in a professional, courteous, and knowledgeable manner.

* Conducts facility-wide evaluation to assure the policies and procedures are being enforced and that a safe environment for recreation prevails. Takes action to correct safety and liability hazards.

* Work with University police to enforce/improve security concerns.

* Assist with the supervision and enforce safety and operational policies for the waterfront.

* As directed, provides support to NUSC camps, clinics, rentals, and special events.

* Report any unsafe facility conditions to the Associate Director of Recreation Facilities & Operations.

* Collaborate with University departments/units to provide recreational opportunities or partnerships that enhance the physical and emotional well-being of the university community (both campuses).

* Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.

* Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

* Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Bachelor's degree in related field or successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

* 1-3 years of temporary professional staff supervisory experience, preferred.

* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

* Strong verbal and non-verbal communication and organizational skills.

* Strong leadership skills and motivational skills.

* Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.

* Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.

* Ability to establish engaging relationships within and across racialized and other marginalized communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* CPR, AED, and First Aid instructor Level Certifications through Red Cross preferred, or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.

* US Sailing/US Powerboating Certified Safe Powerboat Handling and Safety Rescue Instructor preferred, or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.

* US Sailing level 1, 2, or 3 sailing instructor/coach, certified instructor preferred, or willingness to obtain level 1 within one year of employment.

* Knowledge of software systems such as Fusion is preferred.
