Instructor

Summer Academic Day Camps, PreK - Grade 6

Instructors plan and implement challenging and engaging courses with content one to two years above grade level based on course syllabi provided to them. As classroom leads, instructors supervise teaching assistants and are responsible for student course evaluations.

Course Duration and Pay - pay ranges are dependent upon CTD experience

One-Week Courses (Evanston and Chicago, only)

Half-day courses: $725 - $850

All-day courses: $1,370 - $1,490

Two-Week Courses

Half-day courses (Downers Grove, only): $1,425 - $1,525

All-day courses (grades 5-6, Evanston and Chicago, only): $2,475 - $2,575

Four-Week Courses

Elgin, only: $4,600 (times are TBD, but approximately 8:30am - 12:30pm)

Locations and Program Dates

Chicago (Hawthorne Scholastic Academy): June 24 - August 2 (no programming the week of July 1 - July 5)

Downers Grove (Avery Coonley School): June 10 - July 19 (no classes 6/19 or 7/4)

Elgin (Location TBD): June 10 - July 3 (no classes 6/19)

Evanston (St. Athanasius): June 24 - August 2 (no programming the week of July 1 - July 5)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus experience teaching accelerated and/or compacted curricula with differentiation.

Subject matter expertise as appropriate.

Strength and mobility to supervise active children indoors and on the playground, including the ability to run a short distance and lift a child weighing approximately 40 pounds.

Preferred: Master's degree, at least three years of lead teaching and experience with twice exceptional students preferred.

General Responsibilities

Design all course instructional activities, including differentiation and hands-on projects.

Submit lesson plans to CTD for review and archiving according to program requirements.

Choose and request appropriate instructional materials for the course.

Review student medical notes as needed (i.e., allergies/other medical needs).

Develop an environment that encourages engagement, collaboration, and academic risk-taking.

Support and supervise teaching assistant's engagement with students.

Maintain program standard of student supervision.

Complete student evaluations based on learning objectives and CTD guidelines.

Learn and implement CTD Policies and Procedures.

Uphold and promote the CTD Honor Code among staff and students.

Assume program-related responsibilities (e.g., training) as requested by CTD administrators.
