Job Description

The Salvation Army Midland Division Camp Mihaska located in Bourbon, Missouri, is looking for 4 Lifeguards. We are looking for individuals ages 18 or older to fill these positions. This is a full-time, temporary summer position that will start on June 03, 2024 and will end July 31, 2024. The pay is $375 per week.

Position Summary:

Provide a safe environment at the pool and waterfront by adhering to and enforcing water safety rules.

Essential Duties:

  • Work under the direction of the Waterfront Director and Head Lifeguard.
  • Prepare, lead, or assist in all pool and waterfront program activities, including meals, as directed.
  • Provide guidance and discipline to maintain a safe environment at the pool.
  • Adhere to and enforce camp policies and procedures.
  • Report maintenance problems to the Waterfront Director.
  • Report camper and staff issues to the Divisional Youth Secretary.
  • Assist with camper registration.
  • Work closely with Leadership to maintain a safe and loving environment for campers and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with The Salvation Army Safe From Harm guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • An individual of the Christian faith who has a strong personal relationship with the Lord, attends church on a regular basis, and a desire to lead others spiritually is required.
  • Basic First Aid and Life Saving/Life Guarding Certifications, required.
  • Team player and self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision, required.
  • Understand and support the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army Camping program.
  • Above average communication and leadership skills with the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Lifeguard Certification

Physical and Work Environment Requirements: Capable of actively participating in all camp program activities. Frequently lifts 25 pounds, occasionally lifts to 50 pounds and moves 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart. Most work will be outdoors and in extreme heat during in the summer.
