Description

Waukesha County is looking for 2 Head Lifeguards for its Fox Brook Beach
(Fox Brook Park is located at 2925 N. Barker Road, Brookfield)

Head Lifeguard Staffing hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, and Sat/Sun from 10am-7pm. Staffing starts June 4th. (Additional hours expected for mandatory in-service training sessions before and/or after beach hours.)
  • Staff pre-season training and orientation begins Wednesday, May 25th.

Prior to hiring, the final candidate is required to pass work/education/certification reference(s) and where applicable, a criminal background and driver's license check.

Example of Duties

  • Coordinate and supervise all lifeguard activities and see to it that all beach rules, lifeguard responsibilities, guard assignments and guarding procedures are carried out every day
  • Prepare for, and lead weekly staff training and in-services as directed by the Aquatic Supervisors.
  • Complete daily log sheets, jump charts, accident/incident, or lost child reports, and any other documentation as necessary.
  • Follow staffing standards when executing daily beach operations.
  • Ensure all lifeguards under the age of 18 receive a 30-minute, uninterrupted break whenever they work 6 hours or more.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all beach house/area facilities. Guarantee all lifeguards remain busy while on secondary duty. Delegate tasks daily.
  • Hold staff to high standards, utilize corrective action and disciplinary forms when necessary.
  • Write and deliver written performance evaluations for all lifeguard staff, one mid-season and one at the end of the season.
  • Ensure staff are actively and consistently enforcing County policies and beach rules.
  • Make decisions on opening/closing beach sections as necessary.
  • Assign backup coverage when necessary
  • Train staff in accordance with Waukesha County Park's high standards.
  • Know the facility's Emergency Action Plan inside and out. Provide guidance to new lifeguard staff.
  • Set good examples for all lifeguards to follow.
  • Motivate and hold accountable all team members at your facility.
  • Welcome all groups coming to swim (day camps, day cares, etc), explain rules/policies and ensure appropriate paperwork is on hand.
Minimum Qualifications

You must meet these minimum Training and Experience requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • One (1) year of lifeguarding experience.
  • Current Waterfront Lifeguard Training Certification.
Desirable:
  • Leadership experience.
