Compensation: $20,843 (actual salary is based on FTE - see below)


Position Summary: Graduate Assistants (GAs) are graduate students paid to perform job duties relevant to their academic field. Students work under faculty/program direction. Job duties enhance what students learn in their academic coursework.

Compensation and Benefits: GAs are salaried and generally work during the academic year and are typically assigned an FTE of .50 or less. Work schedules tend to be flexible.

Salary is based on your contracted workload, for example a GA working half-time (.50 FTE) for the full academic year (both fall and spring terms) would earns $10,422 for their work during the academic year.

GAs may be eligible to:

-Purchase affordable state-sanctioned health and dental insurance if they meet benefit eligibility criteria (optional).

-Pay in-state resident tuition rates if they meet additional academic and immigration eligibility requirements.

Requirements: You will be considered for a position if you meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. You applied to a UW Oshkosh graduate program and, if accepted in full-standing, will start graduate classes by fall semester 2020

- OR -

You are a current UW Oshkosh graduate student who:

  1. Is in full academic standing (GPA 3.0 or higher)

  1. Is on track to complete your degree within the program completion timeline

  1. Enrolled in at least 6 graduate degree credits each semester that you will be a Graduate Assistant

  1. Has no "In Progress" grades for three or more semesters (excluding summers)

  1. Has not been suspended from the University and has not been found guilty of academic misconduct.

Note: F-1 visa holders who accept GA positions may work a maximum of 20 hours per week for all campus jobs combined.
