How your role fits into Boldt:

As a Civil Engineer for the Boldt Company, you will work within our engineering team to apply standard civil engineering principles and practices to a variety of products to support our building design projects as well as providing support to our construction operating groups. An emphasis of this position will be supporting our Renewables group with the development of designs and documents to support permitting and construction needs. Proactive communication with our design and project teams is an important skill for this role to understand the project plan, schedule, and cost impacts for the evaluation of soil and site conditions. A goal for this role is to develop safe and effective engineering designs and plans for our projects.


Required Skills

What you get to do:

  • Consult with and provide guidance to project teams and leaders regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and information for our projects.
  • Use design software and modeling tools to accurately render and communicate designs, plans, and designs along with other necessary and related systems and structures.
  • Assess strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
  • Set design specifications by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar parameters.
  • Plan projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
  • Draft and present reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions.
  • Design and write permitting plans such as SWPPPs and SPCC Plans for construction project sites including wind and solar projects.
  • Participate in design project estimates for civil engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects meet milestones as planned.
  • Collaborate with surveyors (or direct and participate in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
  • Monitor project progress, ensure designs are properly implemented and provide support to the construction teams on design interpretations.

Required Experience

What we expect from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field of study.
  • Five + years of engineering experience with one to two years in construction, working with building engineering and soils.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is required, with an emphasis on construction, geotechnical, or structural engineering. At minimum, Engineer-in-Training certificate with potential to become a licensed Professional Engineer within one year upon hire is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft O365 products and Bluebeam.
  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Arc GIS, Revit and other software to support project deliverables is desired.

Physical requirements and working conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to optimally communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.

The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
