Children's Wisconsin has an opportunity for a Desktop Engineer- Senior

What you will do:

Maintains the health of the application packaging software environment related to clients, packages and distribution point content. Manages application packaging software Operating System Deployment (OSD) implementation. Packages, tests, and deploys automated desktop and laptop application installations following approved processes and procedures. Creates collections and advertisements for software distribution. Manages deployment of patches and critical updates. Works closely with other Field Services staff to support/troubleshoot end user device issues. Develops and maintains appropriate documentation of the environment. Keeps IMS Server Manager Leadership apprised of potential or actual issues affecting the desktop environment. Coordinates with Field Services leadership regarding projects that affect PC hardware and software implementations and IMS related changes that affect all areas of the organization.

  • High School diploma required. Bachelors degree in computer science or related technical area preferred.
  • Requires at least five years of relevant information systems experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Windows OS client architecture, using tools such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), through a strong understanding of industry best practices.
  • Provides advanced troubleshooting for issues that appear to be related to base client operating system and applications.
  • Strong understanding and experience in dynamic scripting language used to deploy OS and software. Experience using Microsoft Windows PowerShell is a plus.
  • Requires in depth knowledge of local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) architecture.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of PC and system software skills utilizing DOS, Windows, virus scanning utilities, and desktop PC management tools for IBM compatible PCs and peripherals.
  • Requires in depth knowledge in one or more operating systems. Requires experience with application packaging, deployment and troubleshooting steps.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of information system concepts, including active directory, group policy, networking, data base concepts, and network communications protocols, such as TCP/IP, and IP protocols.
  • Demonstrates aptitude in the following Korn Ferry competencies: Customer Focus, Manages Complexity, Nimble Learning, Drives Results, Collaborates, Communicates Effectively.
  • May need to squat, bend, or kneel and may need to reach overhead.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and position hardware weighing up to 50 pounds, using proper body mechanics. Recognizes when assistance is needed to lift or move hardware.
