Assembly Skidder

1st shift, 6 am - 2: 30pm, some OT can be during the week or on Saturdays - voluntary $16-$18/hr BOE

Job Description: Candidates preferably have previous experience working with wooden skids, but other product packaging or assembly skills will be accepted.

Your Contribution to the Team includes:

Accurately measure finished conveyor product to verify correct pre-assembled wooden skid size to fit for shipping (as listed on the Bill of Material) Skid/crate conveyor product using various power tools (nail gun, miter saw, screw gun, bander etc.) Operate a crane to place conveyor product on skid and attach for secure shipment. Transport delivered skids and lumber to skidding area using a forklift truck. Accurately measure to cut wood to complete the packaging process when necessary. Maintain a safe and well-organized work area. Ensure work is completed in a timely manner and on schedule. Other duties: conveyor assembly using hand tools, working from simple drawings. MUST be able to read a ruler Keep area clean, must be a team player & help where needed This individual will spend about 50% of their time building custom skids to prepare conveyors for shipment, the other time is spent in assembly

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires four years of high school and six to twelve months of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to accurately judge best size and design of skids for each conveyor to avoid product damage.
  • OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: The employee must possess good mechanical ability and the ability to perform basic calculations to perform construction work. The employee must have the ability to read a measuring tape. The employee must be able to operate a crane, a fork truck, air tools such as a nail gun, a power saw, and a variety of small hand and power tools.
  • PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Requires the use of safety glasses and safety shoes, hearing protection, and gloves.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires the ability to obtain a forklift operator s license.
