Position Description

Financial Aid Counselor                                                                     

The position of Financial Aid Counselor is an integral part of Mount Mary College’s student enrollment and retention team, which requires an enthusiastic, high-energy individual.  The individual must be committed to personal attention and follow up with prospective and enrolled students.  The Financial Aid Counselor will work closely with the Director of Financial Aid to insure that the Financial Aid Office and its services play an efficient and successful part in the recruitment and retention of Mount Mary students. 

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be attentive to detail, and be experienced in an on-line environment.

Responsibilities
  • Counsel students and parents regarding financial aid awards, eligibility, and processes 

  • Provide in depth one on one counseling to transfer students on Aggregate limits on federal and state grants and federal and private loans.

  • Conduct financial aid workshops and  presentations

  • Verify and reviews student files for packaging

  • Complete initial financial aid award packages and revise financial aid awards for new and continuing students

  • Manage Federal and Private Education Loan Programs

  • Conduct entrance and exit loan counseling

  • Counsel students on federal and outside loan programs

  • Liason between financial aid and the undergraduate admissions office.

  • Performs other assignments as requested by the Director of Financial Aid

 
Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree

  • Experience in higher education preferred

  • Experience in database (Jenzabar) use preferred

  • Ability to work both independently and on a team
