Position Description
Mount Mary College, Wisconsin’s oldest Catholic college for women is seeking an individual to contribute the realization of our mission through the role of a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Philosophy beginning August 20th of the 2013-14 academic year.
The teaching load is 12 credits per semester on a 9 month contract. Consistent with the mission of the college, the successful candidate will reflect a commitment to social justice, a deep understanding of and appreciation for the Catholic intellectual tradition, and a commitment to the education for leadership of a diverse community of women.
Qualifications include:
Ph.D. in Philosophy by the start of appointment is required. Area of study is open but the successful candidate must have a strong competency in the history of Western philosophy including the interconnections between philosophy and theology. An area of competence in a non-traditionally represented area of philosophy is also preferred (E.g. Women philosophers, Eastern Philosophers, African American philosophy, Islamic philosophy, etc.) Excellence in teaching required undergraduate courses as part of the core liberal arts curriculum is the highest priority.
