Position Description

The Assistant Director is an integral member of the enrollment team providing leadership in the development and implementation of recruitment strategies directed at meeting the college’s multicultural student enrollment goals.  The individual must be committed to personal attention and follow up with prospective students and must be adept at matching prospective students’ needs with Mount Mary College offerings.  The position identifies and counsels new students regarding the college’s curriculum, major and degree requirements, financial aid, extracurricular opportunities and student services.   
 
Responsibilities:
Counselor Duties
 
  • Review application credentials for students within the territory and make an admission decision.  When appropriate, make admission recommendations to the admission committee.
  • Represent Mount Mary College at select off site events such as college fairs and corporate events and on-campus functions. Ability to travel, including overnight, is required and expected. 
  • Coordinate on- and off-campus recruitment events as assigned.
  • Maintain applicant files as a part of the admission review process.
  • Conduct on-campus interviews with prospective students.
  • Maintain comprehensive records tracking interactions with prospective students as well as actions taken on a prospective student’s application.
  • Educate accepted students on the financial aid process and offerings and the specifics of their individual aid award.
  • Work with community organizations and associations, high schools and other appropriate agencies to raise awareness of Mount Mary College and Grace Scholars Program.
 
Administrative Duties
  • Develop in collaboration with the enrollment team an annual plan for the recruitment of multicultural students including direct management of Grace Scholars Program.
  • Develop, maintain and report longitudinal data related to multicultural recruitment including the Grace Scholars program. 
  • Serve as liaison between the Grace Scholars Program and  the Admission Office.  Maintain strong lines of communication with the Grace Scholars Director regarding college policies and procedures impacting student recruitment to the program. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions in coordinating communication with Financial Aid Office regarding awarding of Grace Scholars students.
  • Work closely with Vice President for Enrollment Services and Director of Undergraduate Admissions to design and implement marketing strategies for the Grace Scholars Program and other multicultural recruitment objectives. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
 
 
CURRENT TERRITORY:  First year students interested in the Grace Scholars Program. Additional territory assignments include Milwaukee and Madison territories.

Qualifications:  Bachelors degree required.  Experience working with and meeting the needs of low-income, first generation, urban students in a higher education or equivalent setting. Self-motivated and well organized.  Ability to work independently and in a team.   Excellent interpersonal skills to develop strong professional relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and external organizations.  Bilingualism preferred (Spanish-English or Hmong-English) preferred.
