Assistant Professor English (New Media and Professional Writing)

Job Description
Mount Mary University, Wisconsin’s oldest Catholic university for women, is seeking an individual to contribute the realization of our mission through the role of a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of New Media and Professional Writing beginning in fall 2015. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester on a 9 month contract. Consistent with the mission of the University, the successful candidate will reflect a commitment to social justice and a deep understanding and appreciation for the Catholic intellectual tradition, and a commitment to the education for leadership of a diverse community of women.
The Department of English at Mount Mary University seeks a dynamic instructor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in new media and professional writing (e.g., writing for websites, blogs and social media, as well as technical and/or grant writing). Strong computer skills required, including knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress and social media tools. Ability to teach journalism and composition also desired. Teaching experience and a terminal degree (Ph.D. or MFA) in hand at the start of the appointment is required. Applications will be reviewed beginning December 1 and will be accepted until the position is filled. Candidates selected for further consideration will be asked to submit samples of writing, syllabi and teaching materials.
