Job Description
Man Lift Mfg. Co. (MLM) is a manufacturer and supplier of custom mobile hydraulic equipment with a 10 year history of serving customers in the aviation, aerospace, industrial, food, mining, oil and gas, and construction industries. We have recently been acquired by a new ownership group and are growing our business, our product line, and our capabilities. To keep up with and fuel this growth we are looking for talented individuals to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The Manufacturing Engineer will be expected to build and maintain a strong relationship with the Engineering and Manufacturing Departments and assist in ensuring all products are manufactured effectively to meet our customer’s specific application requirements and MLM Quality standards.  MLM provides expertise in a consultative manner to provide customers highly engineered and tailored solutions.  Our Manufacturing Engineer is an integral part of this process.
 
The Manufacturing Engineer is expected to:
 
  • Develop and Evaluate manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; designing and conducting research; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors;  testing manufacturing methods and equipment,  and soliciting observations from customers and other MLM employees.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout, and establishing standards to confirm manufacturing processes.
  • Assure product and process quality and finished product testing and acceptance processes.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Input to product and process data bases.
  • Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the MLM team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; communicates with individuals and with large groups at multiple levels within customer and MLM hierarchy.
  • Strong command of pertinent facts and attention to details
 
REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Product knowledge of mobile hydraulic equipment and/or aerial work platforms (boom & scissor lifts) preferred.
  • Experience in Engineer to Order (ETO), fabrication, and assembly operations a plus.
  • Experience at transitioning products from design, to material acquisition, to the production floor a must.
  • Must have experience with lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred.
  • Experience using Solid Works desired.

TRAINING
 
On-the-job training as required.
