Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Video and Multimedia Specialist to join our Marketing Communications team. Under the direction of the Director of Digital Marketing, the Multimedia and Video Specialist creates compelling multimedia content that tells the MSOE story and supports MSOE's strategic goals, builds the institutional brand and drives enrollment and fund-raising growth. The role requires project management, creative and technical expertise to direct and drive the development of innovative video stories from concept to research through completion. These video stories will be used on the MSOE website, social media, digital advertising, mobile platforms, presentations, etc. and will be consistent with the university’s brand strategy and key messaging. This person works collaboratively with key university stakeholders to develop creative, results-oriented solutions whether developed directly by this role or by directing external vendors/partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a proactive, customer-service oriented lead on all video, multimedia and photography through direct development or direction of external vendors/partners. Strive for the highest quality standards to grow and enhance MSOE’s reputation as a premiere university known for its outstanding academic programs.
Responsible for planning and producing videos for the web and social media including concept development, storyboarding and scripting, logistical coordination, technical production of video and audio, interviewing and editing.
Maintain an annual calendar of video and multimedia development projects including timing, status and completion date as part of the MSOE marketing roadmap.
Serve as an internal consultant and collaborative partner for department staff, supporting their efforts to include video and multimedia in their work.
Keep up to date with the latest technology and developments in video and multimedia for the web and social media.
Use appropriate analytical tools and measure the effectiveness of MSOE's video and multimedia to inform future work.
Hire and manage student and freelance photographers and oversee photo shoots and event photography.
Lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteer performing related work.
Manage digital assets including the photo library, video footage and facilitate access to digital assets.
Manage digital signage system messaging and scheduling.
Maintain dept. video and photography equipment and recommend necessary equipment and software as needs (and technology) change.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as backup to Director of Digital Marketing for assisting campus web content editors with website updates.
Works collaboratively with marketing leadership to develop an integrated and comprehensive marketing plan that balances MSOE’s institutional brand with strategic support for academic, enrollment and development and goals.
Work with other members of the department, specifically, designers, writers and digital & web team to develop comprehensive and integrated solutions to support MSOE.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
B.A. in communications/media or related degree.
5+ years in a professional broadcast, corporate, or higher education environment and record of proven success in video and multimedia development/production management with experience managing both internal projects and external vendors.
Proficiency in the artistic and technical aspects of video production and photography, including pre-production, production (cinematography, lighting, audio production), editing and video compression for the web.
Experience with video production and workflow.
Expert digital editing skills, with expertise in video storytelling as well as with software platforms related to digital editing and retouching (e.g., Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom).
Knowledge of digital photography and familiarization with web content management systems.
Excellent organization, consultative and verbal/written communication skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines while maintaining brand, budget and keeping stakeholders informed.
Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels.
Ability to use and adapt to new software including the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, digital asset management systems and project management software.
Top-notch organization and project management skills, able to juggle multiple tasks; you’ll work in a team environment to conceptualize and coordinate projects.
Creativity to lead your team to new heights and suggest/implement improvements.
A marketing mindset—you will be working with a team of marketing professionals who provide strategy, ideas and insight into university marketing efforts.
Language Skills
Excellent writing, proofreading, communication and organizational skills that will be used in a variety of university marketing materials, both print and digital.
Knowledge of AP style of writing.
Communication skills to work with a variety of people such as project team members, faculty, staff, students, Regents and alumni via email, telephone and face-to-face.
Familiarity with and understanding of HTML.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to use numbers to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus. The employee also may be required to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
