The Department of English at Mount Mary University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of English – Composition/Writing to begin August 2020. This full-time, non-tenure track, renewable one year appointment requires a 12-credit per semester teaching load.
Primary Responsibilities
This position includes teachingfirst-year writing courses in composition. Opportunities to teach in secondary areas are available. Desirable secondary specialties include creative writing, literature, journalism, or new media and professional writing (e.g., writing for websites, blogs and social media; digital storytelling; technical writing; grant writing).
Evidence of success working with first-year students required. Preference given to candidates with experience working directly with students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Experience with online instruction preferred.

Terminal degree (Ph.D. or MFA) in hand in English, Rhetoric, or a related field and teaching experience with a diverse student population is required. A terminal degree in progress may be considered if there is evidence of exceptional teaching experience with a diverse student population.
