Job Description

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources (HR) Representative will be responsible for performing day-to-day activities of the HR functions with particular focus on recruiting, onboarding, training and development.  Will be assigned human resources related projects of a moderate to complex nature.  The HR Representative applies skill in the selection/retention techniques, an extensive knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures, employee benefit programs and federal and state laws regarding employment practices in order to support the organization.  The HR Representative must demonstrate the highest level of integrity and maintain confidentiality and perform all duties in accordance with policies and procedures.

 
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 
 
  • Maintains current working knowledge of policies and procedures, pay practices, employee benefits, employment laws (i.e., EEOC, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA) and communicates regularly to ensure understanding and compliance.

  • Assists in the development and execution of recruiting plan.

  • Leads full cycle staffing process including applicant sourcing, recruiting, pre-employment screening, interviewing, processing background checks and employee onboarding.

  • Supports the day-to-day administration of systems and programs.

  • Partners with others to develop and/or facilitate programs to support objectives and individual development.

  • Proactively assists with employee engagement strategies.

  • Maintains the Human Resources documents on the University’s website and bulletin boards.

  • Conducts exit interviews and reports data collection.

  • Responds to unemployment agency requests and appears at hearings.

  • Conducts internal investigations.

  • Performs clerical administration such as:  phone calls, processing mail, scheduling and calendaring meetings, maintaining filing systems, and ordering supplies.

  • Assists with the coordination of special events (e.g., recognition luncheons, retirement parties, new employee orientations, open enrollment meetings).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 
 

MINIMUM EDUCATION

 
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field required.

 
 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

 
 
  • Two (2) years of experience required in human resources, generalist experience preferred.

 
 

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND/OR LICENSURE

 
 
  • Prior experience with a human resource information system (HRIS) preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask

  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision
