Summerfield UMC spans 160 years of life and history in Milwaukee. It is the oldest Methodist congregation in the state. Goodwill Industries of Wisconsin was started with the support of Summerfield Members in the basement of the present-day church location.

The ministries of Summerfield go beyond the church walls with strong participation in the Interchange Food Pantry, East Side Senior Services, and the Northcott Neighborhood House.

Summerfield is a place of community, hospitality, and healing. Many people feel it is hard to fit in at church because they are not good enough to attend, or do not connect with the established social status. Or maybe they are too liberal, too conservative, too single, too gay, too young, too old, too broken, too foreign, or have too many noisy kids. We are open and accepting, just come as you are.

Summerfield makes waking-up on Sunday mornings a worthwhile effort. We are blessed with talented people, a beautiful building, great music, and heart-felt worship. After our devotion we share in fellowship over coffee and refreshments. And our connection to members and the community goes beyond the Sunday service.
