Taking advantage of the building boom that followed World War II
, Jacobus Energy entered into a period of strong growth that has continued into the present.
In the 1950s & 1960s
, the company's heating oil division, Quickflash Heating and Cooling Services, emerged as one of the largest suppliers of home heating oil in the state of Wisconsin. Quickflash continues to be the region's "home heating oil expert," servicing both oil and gas-heated homes.
In the mid-80's
, Jacobus introduced automated fueling for commercial fleets, and a new division, Quick Fuel, was founded. In the years that followed, Quick Fuel quickly expanded, and now serves thousands of businesses throughout the Midwest and South with a variety of fueling solutions.

Comprehensive Health Insurance
Health insurance is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Premiums, deductibles and co-pays do apply.
Dental insurance is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment Premiums, deductibles and co-pays do apply.
The Company covers all full time employees under the group life insurance plan effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment. This coverage is equal to 1½ times the employee’s base salary. The Company sponsors this benefit at no cost to the employee. (Through payroll deduction, employees may purchase additional life insurance for themselves or family at group rates.)
Flexcomp Benefit Plan
This plan provides our employees the benefits of medical expense reimbursement; dependent care assistance and various insurance benefit contributions through payroll deduction on a pre-tax basis.
Short Term Disability Benefits
Following six months of employment, employees can accrue up to 26 weeks of Short Term Disability. Payment for disability is 50% of the employee’s current wages provided they are totally disabled and under doctors care. The Company completely sponsors this benefit.
Paid Vacation and Personal Days
Following the completion of one calendar year of employment, employees receive two weeks of vacation. (We prorate the first year of vacation.) You earn additional vacation time with years of service. For each full month of employment, employees will receive one-half (1/2) day of personal time up to five (5) days per calendar year.
The Company provides holiday pay for six observed holidays for employees who complete 30 days of continuous employment.
The Company normally pays all employees on a bi-weekly basis, usually on a Friday. Employees may choose to direct deposit their payroll checks to the banking institution of their choice.
Employees who meet all plan requirements are eligible to participate in the Company sponsored profit sharing plan. Employees can direct the investments of their accounts between nine (9) different investment funds.
401(k) Deferred Savings Plan
An employee is eligible to begin pre-tax salary deferrals to a 401(k) plan at the beginning of any calendar quarter following 30 days of employment. Again, employees can choose between nine different investment funds currently available in the Plan.
Jacobus Energy has established an educational assistance program to help eligible employees develop their skills and performance. Management must approve educational assistance prior to taking the course and we base reimbursement on the final grade of each course.
Employee Referral Program
Jacobus Energy employees can assist us in maintaining the high quality of services we offer our customers, by referring a relative or friend for positions within the Company. Employees making a referral must complete a referral form prior to the individual’s hire date. In order to pay the referring employee, newly hired employees must complete six (6) months of service. The referring employee must also be on the payroll at the time the bonus is paid. The Company pays a bonus amount of $500.00 for full-time hire and $250.00 for someone hired on a part-time or seasonal basis.
