Milwaukee Ballet Company supports a rich and diverse community through its inspiring dance performance, education and outreach. We are one of a kind in Wisconsin – the State’s only professional ballet company. We strive to inspire our patrons to think within and beyond traditional ballet. Milwaukee Ballet presents more than 30 performances to 40,000 people each year. Our resident company includes 25 professional dancers along with 20 trainees in our second company. We are one of the few dance companies in the country to maintain our own orchestra.
Milwaukee Ballet is led by Artistic Director Michael Pink, a graduate of famed English National School of Ballet. He is driven by his passion to produce new and innovative works for future generations of dance. Pink is internationally celebrated as a master storyteller, whose groundbreaking world premieres in Milwaukee include Mirror Mirror (based on Snow White), the first balletic interpretation of La Bohème and Peter Pan, which was televised nationally on PBS. His bold adaptations of classics Swan Lake and Giselle have been heralded as “classical dance for the 21st Century.” Milwaukee Ballet also invites the world’s best up-and-coming choreographers to present new works for its contemporary dance programs.
Our Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy is the official school of Milwaukee Ballet. It has an enrollment of more than 600 students at three locations throughout Southeastern Wisconsin, and is the only professional dance school in the Midwest accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance.
A professional school for the community, Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy offers a wide range of classes to suit any student from age 3, to the serious Academy student, to adults looking to reap the physical benefits of ballet. While training the next generation, the School has not lost touch with its roots in the city, and offers a wealth of scholarships and financial aid packages to ensure any student interested can learn ballet.
Milwaukee Ballet’s Community Outreach programs are offered year-round through hands-on workshops, original children’s productions and a student matinee series serving over 30,000 people each year.
