Original Stein Store Opened in 1946 in Shorewood, Wisconsin
Stein Gardens & Gifts has a storied history that traces back more than 65 years.  In 1946, Maurice Stein opened the first Stein location in Shorewood, Wisconsin.  His son, Jack Stein, took over the business and through his vision and commitment to the customer built Stein's into one of the leading independent garden centers in the country.

Today, with 16 locations throughout Wisconsin, Stein's continues to be owned and operated by the Stein family and remains focused on providing customers with superior products and great service. Each Stein store is located on approximately a five acre site with parking for 150-200 cars. Each site includes a 31,000 square foot building and a three acre sales yard for nursery stock and landscaping items. The corporate headquarters is located at 5400 South 27th Street, Milwaukee.  

Something For Everyone
The Stein stores carry something for everyone. For the casual to the most avid gardener each store features lawn and garden products, an extensive selection of nursery stock, along with perennials and annuals. "The Gardens" at Stein features garden living products such as water gardening, fountains, pumps, statues, and garden decor. The "Gallery" at Stein carries a collection of home decor and giftware from around the world, along with a selection of silk flowers, silk plants and dried flowers. Included in the "Gallery" is a variety of live tropical and flowering plants, cactus and succulents.   From season to season, as the customer's needs change, so do Stein Gardens & Gifts. In the winter months Stein displays a larger selection of silk flowers, silk plants and live tropical plants. This is also the time for the indoor gardening department to start featuring row after row of flower and vegetable seeds. Winter is also the perfect time to feature bird food and feeders.

As winter rolls into Spring Stein displays all the products necessary to prepare the lawn and garden for the new season. Name brand products such as Scotts, Ortho, Ames, Miracle-Gro, Round-Up and many others are available at discounted prices. Christmas Transformation
As the weather grows cold and the Christmas holiday season nears, the Stein stores are turned into Christmas Wonderlands. The Tree Room in each store displays over 100 artificial trees. A selection of trees is trimmed with all the latest lights, garland and ornaments from around the world. The Floral Design Department creates holiday centerpieces to accent any area at home or business.
