Position Requirements:
High school graduate. Previous healthcare clerical or healthcare related experience. Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory data Proper telephone skills. Good organization and communication skills. Proficiency with Window based computer programs. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Must pass medical terminology test. Ability to work under stressful conditions with multiple simultaneous requests. Handling of departmental equipment and materials is required. Ability to work designated shifts, including weekends and holidays

Purpose:
To coordinate non-clinical activities to facilitate the efficient delivery of care to patients under the direction of the clinical nurse manager/unit resource coordinator or charge nurse. This includes complex and routine clinical, clerical and support duties such as, computer entry, communicating and coordinating with other departments/disciplines, initiating and maintaining medical records and maintaining unit supplies.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
