Business Job Title: Senior Demand Planner

Job Summary:

The Senior Demand Planner will own a methodical sales forecasting process, including the Monthly Demand Review, applying direct input from sales & marketing along with general economic drivers, for the assigned business segment. The goal is to accurately generate and review a sales forecast in our channels & sub-channels for the corresponding segment. This role will independently and proactively drive process improvement in sales forecasting.

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Demand Planner will have direct responsibility for the sales forecasts of a particular business segment(s) including the following:

  • Employing forecast system tools, develop, maintain, and continuously improve the process to generate category-level forecasts for a rolling 24-months in dollars and units.
    • Work closely with Sales Segment leaders to manage a structured approach to validate the forecasts developed.
    • This includes analyzing market trends, finding statistical correlations with multiple economic factors, and incorporating this relationship where appropriate in forecast models.
    • Input will be sought from market research, field sales & rep. agencies, product managers, or from customers directly.
  • Play a lead role in the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process for assigned segment by presenting the resulting forecasts developed in summary tabular and visual formats to highlight forecast issues/trends, to facilitate reaching a consensus through leading a Monthly Demand Review.
  • Based on input from SIOP and the consensus forecast developed, apply any changes made down to the product category/sub-channel/account/SKU level.
  • Catalogue major forecasting variance issues for discussion and resolution within the assigned business segment to track and review with sales at least monthly.
  • Report on forecast accuracy and segment service levels and take initiative to develop techniques to further improve the forecasts.

Job Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Business or Economics required with desired coursework in business statistics.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of forecasting experience is desired; however, a combination of forecasting and Supply Chain experience may be substituted.
  • Certified Professional Forecaster (CPF) designation desired.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in order to gather the information needed to guide effective decision-making.
  • Basic understanding of the Supply Chain or APICS-Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
  • Prior experience with forecasting demand of consumer-packaged goods stocked and/or displayed at large national retail chains.
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
  • Ability to work independently on various projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated to identify, analyze, and independently implement solutions to resolve issues.
  • Possess excellent judgment and analytical skills.
  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks. Demonstrated success in a multi-tasking, fast-changing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Prior experience with Forecasting Software, such as ForecastX or GAINS preferred.

      Physical Requirements

      • Travel up to 10% periodically.
      • Use computer in an office setting for an extended period of time.
      • Ability to move safely throughout all areas of site location(s), with or without accommodation.
